Youch… Myst Online To Be No More On GameTap
Wow! Now, this is pretty big, yet sad news. Myst Online: Uru Live is no longer going to be hosted by GameTap according to this post over at Adventure Gamers. The news is kind of shocking, because it seemed like such an awesome idea and it is kind of weird that GameTap is no longer going to host the game after the next 60 days.
And boy, there are a lot of unhappy people who apparently only subscribed to the GameTap service for the sole purpose of playing Myst Online. I’m not really surprised there are pissed off people, though, because apparently lots of people have put a lot of time and effort into their characters only to have it crushed by those capitalist pigs over at GameTap! Okay, they’re not capatalist pigs. I’m sure maintaining those game servers was no easy feat. And they also have lots of other games they’re supporting… all of this for $15 a month.
According to this post over at the GameTap forums, both GameTap and Cyan Worlds, better known as the people who created Myst, have come to the join conclusion to no longer distribute and eventually take down all content of Myst Online.
So, here’s to you, Myst Online. We hardly knew ye.
