Wiiventures Part 1

Ahhh… The Nintendo Wii. Friends to few, enemies to many. If you look around here in Phoenix, you can find a PS3 anywhere. Your local game shops, your local Wal-Mart, your local Target, your local grocery store, your local library, your local police station all carry these PS3 consoles. Okay, maybe not ALL of those places, but you get my point. So, why then, is the Wii so hard to find?

I decided on Saturday that I wanted a Wii. I had a credit card that was just aching to be used and I’ve been wanting a Wii for quite some time. So, I start poking my head around and trying to find out where I could get a Wii. To do this, I needed to find someone who doesn’t have a fear of phones, like me. I know, I know. It’s just a phone… it won’t kill me or anything. There is something about the phone that creeps me out. Who knows who is on the receiving end of a conversation. Maybe they’ll love the sound of my voice and try to stalk me. YOU NEVER KNOW.

Anyways, back to my story… I needed someone who wasn’t afraid of the phone. So, I called up my brother. Ironic, isn’t it!? See, I know my brother won’t find my voice attractive, and he already knows where I live, so he probably won’t stalk me. Right?

My brother, Cody, comes over and I give him a bunch of numbers to call. We tried Wal-Mart. Apparently Wal-Mart doesn’t even have phones for their employees to use, because no one answered the phone. We tried Toys R Us. They didn’t even know what a Wii was, it had been so long since they had last seen them. We try EB Games. They laughed in our faces. We didn’t know who else to try. We were almost out of ideas. We knew that Best Buy wouldn’t carry them, because they’re aholes, so we didn’t even try there. Target never gets them. I know… I checked the other day. It just wasn’t panning out for us the way we wanted.

I tried to think hard… I mean, really hard. Where was there an electronics place that has been around for quite a long time, but NO ONE EVER GOES TO?! Is there such a place? Is there? Huh?

Yes… there is. It’s called Circuit City. I’ve been into various Circuit City’s in my time and there is NEVER anyone in there. To make it even better, I find a Circuit City that’s been built in the past year on the outskirts of town. I give my brother the number and he makes the call. I hear the other end of the conversation, as my brother had his cellphone volume on 1 billion decibels for some reason.

Cody: Do you guys have any Wii’s?
Circuit City Employee: We don’t have any today, but we’re suppose to get a shipment in this weekend.
Cody (his eyebrows are arching at this point): Oh really? When do you think you’ll get them.
CCE: Oh, probably tomorrow morning. We don’t open ’til 10 AM, so get here as early as possible, because we’re expecting a huge line.
Cody: Alright! Thanks!

We get up and proceed to dance.

We would have ourself a Wii by Sunday morn if it was the last thing we did.

And now since this has gotten long, I shall continue my tale tomorrow. OH YES.
