What’s in a Plague?

Awesome sounding new game is hitting the UK in March and it’s all about… plagues. That’s right! Just like the days of yore when Europe was hit by the black death, developer Ice-Pick Lodge has brought you Pathologic! It’ll be just like old times! Everyone dying and rats filling the land. Now you can live just like your ancestors did! Aren’t you excited?!
It actually looks like this game is already out in Russia and has won a bunch of awards, including, but certainly not limited to:
- The Best Game of the Year. “The Best Computer Games” magazine.
- The Best Russian Game of the Year. www.GamesLife.ru.
- The Best Debut of the Year. www.playground.ru.
- Top Five of the Year. www.ixbt.com.
- Top Three together with HL2 and GTA:San Andreas for three months long www.igromania.ru.
- “The Most Non-standard Game” Russian Game Development Conference 2005.
Wow, those crazy Russians win both awards in adventure gaming AND the Winter Olympics. I feel ashamed of my country…
No, not really. Just sometimes I wish I was Russian.
HAH! Just kidding again. Those guys are CRAZY.
Here’s a press release, too from Homeland Federation and Alliance (no doubt a crazy Russian mafia):
The game itself takes place in a town that has been infected by a plague of unknown origin. Our build of the game allowed us to play as one of the three planned playable characters in the game, a scientist who has come to investigate this mystery illness. As you explore the town, it’s clear that something is not right; people are coming up to you in that “one of us” type of way, while you also see other people stab and fight townspeople out in the open. Rats are chasing you down as well..and dud that puff of smoke we just saw out of the corner of our eye have images of skulls, or is that just us?
I think it’s just you. Pot head.
And now for some screen caps, because I amused myself:

Sorry, the funny has left me for the day.
