Video Games Live

by Amber on March 28th, 2008

What’s cooler than video game music? There really isn’t that much, is there? But there is! Especially when you get to hear video game music being played by a live orchestra. And that’s just what I got to do this week! Yes, my friends, I was lucky enough to go see Video Games Live, and boy, was it freaking awesome. This week, I went on vacation to see some family in Layton, Utah and while I was looking for stuff to do a few weeks ago, I found out that Video Games Live was just so happening to be playing in Ogden, Utah, which is only about 15 minutes away from where my family lives. Sweet!

So, I bought some tickets for me and my brothers, because we’re all big video game nerds and we had a damn blast. The music was beautiful and the presentation of said music was just… perfect. The concert hall was completely packed (I heard the place was actually sold out!!) with people who love video games, so you really can’t get yourself into a better atmoshpere, can ya?

Of particular note were the tributes to Medal of Honor, World of Warcraft and Civilization IV. I don’t think you could get more beautiful music to come out of an orchestra and a choir. I’ve got to say, there were many goose bump and spine tingling moments. And listening and watching the videos to the games really makes you want to bust out your gaming console to get some play time in.

Here’s a little something of what I got to experience - live:

Pretty neat, huh?

If you ever have the chance to check out Video Games Live, do it. It’s something that you should see at least once in a life time if you’re a fan of video games!
