The Plight of a Gamer - Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Yes, I have an addiction and it is called Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I had no idea that I would love the game that much, but surely as the sun does rise sometimes in Alaska, I have falled for it. If I could marry it, I probably would. But if the government won’t accept gay marriages, then I doubt I could have any hopes for marrying a video game. I mean, what’s next? Marrying your cousin’s goat? Probably!

The problem with the game, though, is that it is tricky. Yes, very tricky. Three times, I have had to start over on a new character, because I failed to read any game guides about the game. I should’ve, because I knew the game was quite involved. The delimna I am having? There is just too much planning to this game! I got a character to level 10, but I was getting the CRAP kicked out of me by things like wolves. WOLVES! I could probably kick a wolf’s ass in real life if I had a huge sword. Why would a character with a huge sword have a problem killing a wolf?! WHY?! Because as you level, the monsters you fight get harder. I didn’t realize this until I got to about level 4 and the exact same things I was killing 3 levels ago were the exact same difficulty… maybe even harder as I got better.

So, I consulted with a genius in the way of video games: my brother. That guy knows a lot of crap about games, especially RPGs and luckily he could help me out. He sent me a link to this guide by a very smart… and very helpful lady named Bon “Brynne” Cottle. Now, if you want to read this guide, be warned that it is indeed a huge document to read. At the same time, however, it is very enlightening and maybe you won’t get your ass kicked. Which I find lovely and not as frustrating. Yesterday, after some careful planning at the local pizza eatery, I went home and re-rolled a character, which hurt me deeply, because I had put something like 15 hours into the last character, only to be beated down by a ragged looking wolf. So, hopefully things will go a little more smoohtly this time around.

Wish me luck!

Yeah, I recently got this game for the 360 and it’s very addictive. I really need to stop getting caught stealing, especially if i’m out of gold.

Oh geeze… I could have 2,500 gold and spend it in about 2 minutes on training. Everything cost a crap load of money in this game!

Oh, I know. The user luster to my tan has faded and I’ve lost 30 pounds from never eating. It’s amazing!

Okay, that’s all a lie. I do still have to work… damnit.
