Phoenix Wright = Longest game known to man?
So, I picked up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on Friday for my brand spankin’ new Nintendo DS and I have to say… I’m impressed. More impressed than I thought I would be. The game is actually… incredibly fun and filled with my type of weird humor. Just the type of thing I like in a game. The great thing about it is that it seems to be the LONGEST GAME EVER IN THE HISTORY OF MAN KIND.
Okay, I may be exaggerating just a little, like I tend to do. But every time I beat a trial, I think I’m done, only to be proven wrong once again when another episode for a new trial pops up! I mean, I started playing Friday night, played for like 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday… and then about 3 hours Monday and I just started a new episode! Will this go on forever? I’m used to my adventure games being like 2 hours long, so it’s very nice to be surprised with a new episode when I beat a particularly grueling case.
In actuality, the game doesn’t really feel like a game to me. But more like an intricate story that I’m taking place in. I mean, you can’t really lose with this game. There is no dying and you get an infinite amount of second chances. You feel like you can do nothing wrong to lose a case! And that’s always fun. The game isn’t too hard to figure out, which leaves the frustration factor low. And as we know, frustrating games are never fun. Okay, they’re fun, too, but I like less frustrating games personally.
All and all, I’m glad I picked up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and I’ll DEFINITELY be playing the other two. I love trilogies!

Actually, you CAN die; however, you can be prevented from doing so by saving compulsively. Pretty much like most other games, really.

I figured that’s what those little exclamations were for. You know what’s annoying about saving? It restarts the game. Why? WHY?! Nintendo wants me to get off my lazy butt and go for a walk, I’m guessing.
