Ninjas… Pirates… A team?

littlebigplanet_logo_psd_jpgcopy.jpg

What happens when you take ninjas and pirates and you put them on the same team? Well, you get a PS3 game called LittleBigPlanet and it looks a little somethin’ like this:

Well, alright… it isn’t EXCLUSIVELY about ninjas and pirates. Apparently you can make your own little creatures that suit any identity crises you may encounter. And not only can you make your own little character, you can also play with your friends in a multiplayer universe with your friends. This game sounds pretty freaking awesome, actually. I mean, the main character, the hero, is a guy named Sackboy. That’s like the best name ever. And if you don’t like the traditional sack look that Sackboy sports, feel free to change it.

Check out the press release storyline:

The LittleBigPlanet experience starts with players learning about their character’s powers to interact physically with the environment. There are places to explore, creative resources to collect and puzzles to solve – all requiring a combination of brains and collaborative teamwork. As soon as players begin their creative skills will grow and they will soon be ready to start creating and modifying their surroundings – the first step to sharing them with the whole community.

Hmmmm, sounds a little Spore-ish, doesn’t it? But, it’s still bound to be fun!

New Double Fine Mini Game

tasha.jpg

While we have to wait to hear anything about Double Fine’s new game Brütal Legend, Double Fine has decided to give their fans what they’ve always wanted. More mini-games! I mean, Double Fine doesn’t want us to get all bored and stuff. They have to keep us interested in the company. And, man, do they do a good job with all these super awesome mini-games that anyone, including your cat, can play!

This time, Double Fine has taken the fine comic that one of their main ladies, Tasha, has been drawing for quite some time and made a game out of it. That game? Well, of course it would be called Tasha’s Game and it revolves around Tasha and her cat. Tasha and her cat are the new dynamic duo, by the way. They can solve the toughest of crimes without so much as breaking a nail. Or a whisker.

In the game, Tasha must help out her friend Raz while her cat, Snoopy, flies around with a wizard hat on. And talks. Am I high or something? The game is pretty simple, but is pretty fun and will definitely kill 20 minutes (or more… if you’re one of “those” people) of your day.

Why dontcha check it out?

Survival at its finest: Lost In Blue - Shipwrecked!

lostinblue.jpg

Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to be lost at sea on a boat and the boat gets ripped apart and you get thrown on a deserted island with nothing more than the clothes on your back and your pet monkey/dog? Well, my friends, your day of wondering what that’s like is over. Why? Because of a new game brought to us by Konami for the Nintendo Wii: Lost In Blue: Shipwrecked!

In Lost In Blue: Shipwrecked!, you get to play a boy or a girl that gets lost at sea and wakes up on a deserted island in which you have to build fires, shelters and do anything you can do to survive. The player gets to use the Wii Remote to do minial tasks that we find boring to do in our day to day lives, but thrive to do in game based simulations. What’s more fun than chopping wood? Pretending you’re chopping wood using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck! YES!

Here are some of the game’s features which I’m sure you will enjoy:

  • The first console version of the series greatly upgrades the visual quality and depth of the game, immersing the player in a survival adventure like never before
  • Vibrant 3D graphics paint the island environment, weather systems, and various items as more life-like than ever
  • Full use of Wii-mote and Nunchuk controls allow you to experience realistic movements with a variety of mini-games including fishing, carpentry, fire-making and more
  • An island tutorial and a greater focus on exploration enhances the accessibility and fun factor for new players
  • Dependable pets improve item gathering and provide entertainment by playing music or dancing with you
  • Recruit a friend for around 40 mini-games, including new, cooperative games – the better you play, the bigger your reward

The game just came out on Tuesday, September 23rd and can be found for around $30 a pop.

Brutal! A Legendary Fan Site

brutal.jpg

If you couldn’t guess by the name of the title of this here blog entry, there is a new fan website out for the game we all know and will eventually love, Brütal Legend. The fan website is entitled Brutal! The Legendary Fan Site and it’s going to be more than just brutal and legendary. It’s going to be awesome. And there are many reasons for its awesomeness.

In this website, we will see such awesome things as news, a game overview, a FAQ, in game easter eggs, game multimedia and all the other cool stuff you would expect from a fan based website. I’m also guessing there will be plenty of violence and blood, because with a name like Brutal!, you can’t expect anything else.

I, of course, am most interested in the news. Why? Because no one knows what’s going on with Brütal Legend. It’s a game that just like Dracula, is a mystery best left to the imagination. Until, of course, news does come out. Then I’ll be all up in its bizzzness.

So Blonde - It’s about time!

soblonde.jpg

Several months ago, ANACONDA Games released the German version of the totally radical adventure game So Blonde. The question people have been asking for months is when is the English version of this game is going to come out. According to Adventure Gamers, the game will be coming out in Europe on September 26th for all you English speakers.

And what’s more, there is apparently going to be a Wii and DS version coming out for all of us people who don’t like playing games on their PC. The game on the Wii and the DS won’t be the same game that’s on the PC. It’ll be close, but not exact, so if you want to play the game on the PC and then on the Wii or DS, you’ll get a different experience. That’s if you really like playing games with blonde characters.

The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft

hardyboys.jpg

The Adventure Company is just turning out those adventure games, aren’t they? They alone are probably the company keeping the adventure game genre afloat and for that, I could not be happier. Right now, they’re pimping out a new adventure game featuring two teenaged brothers that are out there to solve mysteries. Sound familiar? Well, it should. Yes, my friends. It’s the Hardy Boys in their very own adventure game called The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft.

The Hardy Boys have to be an adventure game developer’s dream!

Not only are these Hardy Boys cool and updated with their fancy haircuts and their awesome shoes, but they also have the voices of teeny bop super stars Jesse McCartney and Cody Linley. I don’t know really what those two kids do, but teenage girls seem to love them.

The game doesn’t sound half bad either. If you’re into games where boys solve mysteries. Check out the story:

In The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft, the vault of the Spencer Mansion is robbed, and the Bayport Police call on the Hardy Boys to help tie up some loose ends, but they soon find themselves in the middle of a major criminal investigation that takes them on an adventure all over Bayport, and even into New York City. But the pieces don’t add up, and Frank and Joe find themselves embroiled in a drama of sinister proportions. Is the recent theft linked to something from the past? Can Frank and Joe find and decipher the clues in time to prevent another crime from happening?

And there’s even a trailer:

The game will be hitting the PC and the Wii on October 3rd.

Dog and Rabbity thing take Wii Remote to next level

sam_and_max.jpg

What do you get when you take a Sam and a Max and then add a Wii Remote to it? Umm, well, nothing really. It’s not like you can cook anything delicious with those ingredients or anything. Nor could you like tape together something broken. Sam, Max and a Wii Remote are nothing like duct tape. Seriously. You get three completely separate things. Why did I even try to make this into something funny? I don’t know. I suspect craziness.

You can, of course, make something out of those three things if you also added a DVD, a Wii and October 7th. And then you get Sam and Max: Season 1 for the Wii, which will be launched surprisingly enough on October 7th. Which is fun, but maybe not as fun as cooking Sam and Max in a pot and using the Wii Remote to stir them both together to make one big and weird looking Sam and Max creature.

This really is turning into an odd post.

And if you’re really excited about Sam and Max coming to the Wii, you can pre-order it right now from GameStop, so you can be sure to get your very own copy. If you do preorder from the good people of GameStop, you will also receive a bonus CD that apparently contains “Sam and Max videos and other special features”! I love me some special features!

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure - Poppycock!

henry.jpg

Isn’t the word “poppycock” a funny word? I mean, who would go around saying “poppycock!” to a person? It just sounds… dirty. But apparently, sounding dirty isn’t a problem for Henry Hatsworth who is the new hero in the up and coming EA title, Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. I mentioned this game a while back, but now there is a smutty trailer. Check it out:

Isn’t that just APPALLING?!

Okay… I’m just kidding. I think Henry Hatsworth will be a perfect game for all those people who don’t have enough time to play a full game, but do have enough time to play a casual game for like 5 to 10 minutes. Seriously… who only gives themselves 5 to 10 minutes to play a game? Why can’t people just sit around and be bored those 5 to 10 minutes you’re sitting an waiting for a meeting to start or the doctor to see you. I think this world is too fast now. No boredom allowed.

AND I LIKE IT.

Ol’ Henry will be hitting our Nintendo DS screens sometime in 2009.

Strong Badia the Free - More Gameplay footage

Still trying to figure out whether you want to play the new episode of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People? Then perhaps you should check out this game play footage for Strong Badia the Free:

I played the first episode and had a lot of fun, but from reading reviews from such notable places as Adventure Gamers, I’m almost afraid to play the next episode! Just take a look at what was said:

Bottom Line: A cute but passive adventure experience, SBCG4AP continues to be funny, but still falls short of impressing as a full-fledged game.

Actually, I’m not that worried about it. Why? First off, this isn’t a full fledged game! To me, full fledged games take hours upon HOURS of your time. This game will probably take about 2 hours tops. And also, because the first couple episodes of Sam and Max were a little on the slow side and now it’s a great big ol’ hit. These things take time to become good. Like a fine wine!

So, I’m expecting the Strong Bad series to just get better from here.
