New Gaming Company
According to The International House of Mojo, a brand new gaming company will be starting very soon. What’s so great about a new gaming company? Don’t new gaming companies come out like… every single day? Well, yes, but this company is special. It’s special because it is comprised of ex-LucasArt people. Like the companies that have come before it, including TellTale Games and the newer Autumn Moon (who seems to be MIA lately… please tell me I’m wrong), Crackpot Entertainment is bound to have something good in store for us.
Crackpot Entertainment (who I cannot find a website for), will be made up of several ex-LucasFarts people. Mike Levine is the main man of the company. He worked in the LucasArts art department for years. There is also Larry Ahern (who was the leader artist and animator of Full Throttle, Sam & Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle. He was also the lead designer on the wonderful game The Curse of Monkey Island). Peter Chan also came on board and he’s the guy who did most of the concept work. Dave Grossman also helped out initially with the new game Crackpot will be putting out. He worked on developing the world and the characters. Jacob Stephens, who worked at both LucasArts and Nihilistic, is the lead level designer (which I can’t imagine is the funnest of jobs). There is also some concept art people, music people and sound fx people that Crackpot has stolen from LucasArts. Nice job guys!
The first game that Crackpot Entertainment will be presenting is a lovely looking piece of work called Insecticide. This game will be both for PC and handheld gaming platforms. Which platforms? Well, they haven’t said yet, but I’m willing to step out and say it will probably be on the Nintendo DS? Why? Because lots of people are loving adventure games on the good ol’ DS.
Here is what Mike Levine says the game shall be about:
Insecticide is a hard-boiled, fast-shooting detective game set in a festering future city where bugs have evolved as the planet’s dominant race. A murder at the powerful Nectarola soft drink company leads police from the Insecticide Squad on a bug hunt through the city’s seedy underbelly, and into a mystery of epic proportions.
Most of this information was taken from an interview over at Adventure Gamers by Marek Bronstring about the new company and game. This interview is great and gives a lot of inside information on the game. Check it out!
