Manifesto Games Beta Launches

Manifesto Games has launched, finally. Oh, you haven’t heard of Manifesto Games, have you? Well, if you have, then you know that Manifesto Games is an online publisher of all sorts of games. You might notice that when you walk into your local video game store, there are only a couple hundred facings of video games. Well, what happens to those video games if they don’t do so well or word of mouth hasn’t spread quickly enough to appease the big guy called Retail Stores? Hmm, well, they get taken off their shelves and quickly exchanged for another game that might do great… or another game that will be taken off the shelves in another two weeks.
Manifesto Games has dedicated itself to having a place to actually get all those games you’ve heard about, but can’t actually find. We all know how freaking annoying that can be. I’m annoyed just thinking about it.
Now, these guys strive to help budding developers have a place that they can actually sell their games, which if you ask me is pretty dang cool. People who do all the work to entertain me SHOULD get paid something. I mean, I go to the movies and blow $20 for a 2 hour movie… I’d much rather blow $20 on a game that will entertain me for hours. So… yeah. I think this is awesome.
They even have an Indy Game section where you can buy all sorts of cool looking indy games. And… they’re $10. You can’t beat that with a rubber mallet.
Here’s a piece of Manifesto’s… um… well, manifesto.
The machinery of gaming has run amok.
Instead of serving creative vision, it suppresses it. Instead of encouraging innovation, it represses it. Instead of taking its cue from our most imaginative minds, it takes its cue from the latest month’s PC Data list. Instead of rewarding those who succeed, it penalizes them with development budgets so high and royalties so low that there can be no reward for creators. Instead of ascribing credit to those who deserve it, it seeks to associate success with the corporate machine.
It is time for revolution.
Now, they don’t have too many games as of yet, but they’re working on it. So, help spread the word of this cool new site. It’d be sweet if they could stick around for quite sometime, because I think this is an awesome idea and think this is where the game world is going in terms of buying new games.
