Jane Jensen and Gray Matter
One of my sources that updates quite infrequently, Brass Lantern, finally put some cool stuff up on their site. The best part of all the news updates, however, was the little tidbit that was shared about Jane Jensen’s soon to be released (in 2008… not so soon, damnit), Gray Matter. Brass Lantern reported that there was an interview that GameSpot UK.
During her 8 year hiatus from creating adventure games, Jensen worked on a series of books that delve further into her interests of the paranormal. She also help create several casual games (what is a casual game anyways?) for a company called Oberon Media. The games she help create include Inspector Parker and BeTrapped.
Her new adventure game, Gray Matter, takes place in Oxford, UK, which focuses on two weird characters who are interested in the paranormal. These characters Samantha Everett a street performer and Dr. Styles, who I’m guessing is a doctor, come together to make an exciting game about experimentations. I love experimentations.
According to the interview, Jane Jensen would love to do another Gabriel Knight, but says that the future of the game is in the “hands of Vivendi”, whom own the rights to Gabriel Knight. Jensen has two different stories that could be applied to the Gabriel Knight series. I’m sure there are tons of people who would be interested in the continuation of the series… I know I would be.
Also, the interviewers asked Jensen if Gray Matter would be a series. She definitely would love to take on the form of a series, as she has set the game up to come out in parts. She even uses the term “episodes”, so maybe we shall have another episodic game in our hands.
The interview has a lot of great information. Go. Read! It might make you go “hmmmm”.
