Funcom: Out with the pirates… in with the new

Well, it looks like Funcom has had a slight change in plans recently and has decided to stop producing single player standalone games to pursue the greatness of which is online games. If you fail to recall, Funcom is the company who brought us two awesome adventure games: The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, both of which takes us through the lands of Arcadia and Stark with our lovely protagonists, April and Zoe. According to Adventure Gamers, who got their information from the Norwegian newspaper E24 says that the reason for this change is a matter of pirates. Oh, I mean, piracy. I love me some pirates. But I condone piracy. Don’t do it, kids, or you’ll be in some trouble.

I’m not surprised that they’ve decided to do this. Most of their games were turning into MMOs anyways. I mean, there’s that Anarchy Online, Age of Conan and there are some rumors of a Dreamfall MMO that they may or may not be planning to release in the distant future. Plus you get a heck of a lot more money out of your subscription fees than you do anything else, so I say good for you Funcom. You just keep up the good work and don’t you dare think about stopping production of anything Dreamfall related… or I may start a revolt.
