Final Fantasy XII: An Interview

As some of you may know, Final Fantasy XII came out yesterday. I’m sure lots of you went out and reserved a copy three months before the game officially came out. And then I bet you went to your local game store and waited in line from 12 AM, forming a geek squad of campers as you waited anxiously for your precious copy. I bet you even made s’mores, didn’t you?! DIDN’T YOU?!

Well, I personally know a person who actually reserved his copy of the game and waited anxiously on the front steps of his local Gamestop, which he told me is only .4 miles away from his house, which is across the street from “that Target”. Only a nerd would know the EXACT distance of his nearest Gamestop to his house.

This is alarming, because this person is my own flesh and blood. He is my younger brother, by 1.5 years, Josh Loe.

In honor of the new Final Fantasy XII game, I’m going to interview my brother, as he is a gigantic fan of the Final Fantasy series. I think he’s reserved every copy that has ever come out while he has been an adult. He’s UBER.

In the following interview, please note that I am listed as “TA” for The Adventuress and my brother, Josh, is “SDE” for Super Dork Extraordinaire.

HERE WE GO:

TA: So, Josh, if that really is your name, what is it that you do for a living?
SDE: I make pretty pictures, then I make them interactive.

TA: Huh, that’s interesting. I hear your having a Halloween party at your job. What was that like?
SDE: Tons of Foooood!!! Mostly the kind that gives you the diarrhea…. And for my pumpkin, I carved a *mexican dancing.

TA: You’re so weird. Did you know that you’re adopted?
SDE: WHAT? ohh, I thought you said abducted.

TA: No, really, you are. Anyways, I hear you’re a fan of the Final Fantasy series. I remember being a small lass and waking up to you playing Final Fantasy III. I recall you playing it like 40 times. Is this true?
SDE: Entirely true. I played that game like it was goin outta style!

TA: Why did you like that game so much?
SDE: Subliminal messages are the most likely culprit.

TA: Yeah… you are weird. What’s your favorite game in the series?
SDE: Final Fantasy Tactics.

TA: And why would that one be your favorite? There isn’t even porn in that one.
SDE: The art style and game-play held my interest the most. Plus I could watch porn while I was playing it - so it worked out.

TA: So, did you have to stand in line to get your copy of Final Fantasy XII?
SDE: YES…

TA: How long in advance did you preorder your game?
SDE: About a year.. I know I am a procrastinator

TA: Oh, that’s interesting (not). I bet you didn’t know that I dropped you on your head when you were younger, did you?
SDE: And I bet you didn’t know that I poisoned your breakfast cereal every morning.

TA: So, given that you stayed up until 12 AM to get Final Fantasy XII, and you played it after you got home, what is your initial impression of the game?
SDE: Incredible - It made my face explode it is so good. I love the battle system, the character skill progression system, and so far the story (all 2 hours that I have played it).

TA: How long do you think it’ll take you to beat it? I predict 4 hours, because you’re super good at video games. That’s when that ADD kicks in really well.
SDE: Well I have played it for 2 hours, and I am almost done with it - that is, I am almost done with the part where you put your name in and press start - IT’S A LONG GAME OKAY!!!

TA: By the way, I did not know that there was a Gamestop over by that Target. Who knew?!
SDE: Look out, a walrus just shot at you!

TA: If you could make the ultimate game, what would it consist of?
SDE: 3 things - Cheese, Funny Hats, and a bad guy named Lord Dormalor

TA: What is your favorite game of all time?
SDE: Thats a tough one. Pitfall. Wait I didn’t like that game. Can I start over? Ultima Online (That was a great game).

TA: Huh, I figured that your favorite game of all time would involve midget porn?
SDE: UO banned midget porn in the first expansion: twas a sad day for many.

TA: Am I the best sister you’ve ever had?
SDE: I am afraid so, since the only sister I have is you. **runs away**

Well, so there you have it, my dear adventurees. My dear, darling brother whom I love immensely. Give it up for him! I’m trying to get him to make a review for me for when he’s done playing Final Fantasy XII, so I’ll keep you guys up to date.

Peace out!

* please note… The Adventuress does not have a problem with Mexicans. She’s not sure why her brother would carve a pumpkin with a dancing Mexican.
