Fable 2 Awesomeness Abounds!

by Amber on February 21st, 2008

As some of you may know, because you are nerd like me, that this week has been the 2008 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and lots of cool things are being shown to show how awesome game developers are. One of the awesome things that was shown over the week was the new game from Lionhead Studios called Fable 2. If you’ve never played the first Fable game, you might as well take your head out from under the rock you’ve been living under and go get it for like $10 at the local game store, because seriously… that is one awesome game.

So, when you take a sweet assed premise of a game and make a sequel to it? Well, you get one of the most promising looking games for the XBox 360 of 2008. And that is Fable 2. In Fable 1, you created a character and then throughout the game, you decided which actions your character would take. Depending upon those actions, your character can become good, evil or stay neutral. You could also do many things like become rich and make people of both sexes fall in love with you. There was also a main storyline you could follow to beat the game, because running around falling in love with people got a bit boring.

In Fable 2, you get to do the same kind of stuff, but you also get to pick what type of character you want to play - a woman or a man! You also get a dog that follows you around, who will sometimes listen to your commands. What else is cool about the game, though, is the fact that you can raise a family and if you’ve picked a woman character, you can even become pregnant. It’s like we’re taking the Sims and an RPG and rolling it all into one.

All of these things make me very impatient for this game. I mean, there really aren’t that many great games coming out this year that grab my interests… this one does though. Just take a look at the video shot at GDC for Fable 2:

Pretty dang sweet, eh?
