Daemonica: A Preview

by Amber on March 1st, 2006

Those bastards over at Adventure Gamers (I’m just kidding… you’re not really bastards. But you always get to play all the cool games before everyone else. *cries!*) have gotten their hands on a copy of Daemonica before it has even come out, just like they did with the second Bone game. So lucky.

The start off comparing the game to Diablo, saying that if look like Diablo and it plays like Diablo, it’s gotta be another Diablo rip off. Which isn’t bad, because Diablo is an awesome game, but it ain’t an adventure game. And why would Amber talk about it if it tweren’t an adventure game? (heh, tweren’t).

Adventure Gamer’s says such about zee character and his background:

You play as Nicholas Farepoynt, a “Beast Hunter”. Farepoynt is an outcast and a tortured man, destined to pursue the worst cases of (in)humanity by his “gift” of being able to commune with the dead through the ancient language of Daemonica. The game begins with Farepoynt arriving at the small town of Cavorn, where a couple has gone missing and a young woman murdered. Making matters worse, the town itself has fallen on hard times, with darkness covering the land, disease rampant, and hopeless people abandoning their homes. What remains is a shell of a town with only a handful of hardy citizens remaining to brave the evils befalling them.

Mmm… mystery. I like me some mystery.

They also have some screen caps, which I will show you here, just in case you don’t want to go read the article, which by the way, you should:
