Collection-less Fable II Collection
For fans of games that are coming out, publishers will often publish what they like to call a “Collector’s Edition”. Now, these “Collector’s Editions” are a bit pricey. I mean, you have to be a TRUE collector to pay $30 more for a game than just the stripped down, basic game that’s being put out, right? I think I’ve seen several “Collector’s Editions” sell for a good $80-$90 easy. And apparently people pay for this crap!
Sometimes the “Collector’s Edition” of the game is pretty bad assed though and worth the extra dough you’ll have to plunk down on that there counter. Lots of times, you’ll get to see behind the scenes of the development process, the voice actors for the characters doing their “thang” and maybe a ton of interviews. Generally, you’ll see 5 to 6 hours of stuff that you wouldn’t normally see.
Now, what happens when you take the up and coming Fable II and put it into the “Collector’s Edition” box? Apparently you get nothing extra, according to Kotaku! The original “Collector’s Edition” box set had the developer diary videos (which you can watch for free here), the Fable II soundtrack, a “making of” video and bonus in-game content which includes some crap you need to have XBox Live for.
Well, Microsoft apparently sent e-mails out to Collector’s Edition customers informing them that the bonus DVD will no longer feature the developer diary videos OR the Fable II soundtrack, which would have been super awesome.
Now, really, we’re paying extra bit of money for a WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING.
Worry not, though. The game is still going to be awesome.
