Rock on, cool cat.
Yesterday, my brother and I were talking about games we played when we were younger and specifically, we talked about the music playing in those games that brought us many fond memories whenever we heard it. One of my favorite songs from a game when I was a young lass was from the very awesome game, Final Fantasy III (the US version). It was the part where you were in the opera and they were “singing” and such. I remember making my brother create a save game right before that part of the game, just so we could go back and listen to it over and over.
The sad part is that it sounded like this:
But, it still brought me joy and happiness, even though it was just a mere midi file. That’s the great thing about music in games, though. My brother, Josh, said the best thing yesterday - I shall quote him here: “That’s why I listen to video game music. No words. They let your mind decide what it should do. It works itself out.” Truer words have never been spoken.
That’s why today, I’ve decided to put together a list of online radio stations that you, my friends, can listen to whenever you want so that you may be reminded of your better days.
- Adventure Europe - Love the music from our favorite game genre, adventure games? Well, Adventure Europe has its very own radio station dedicated to music from the adventure game genre. Rock on.
- Gaming FM - This site has just about any gaming song you want to hear. What’s even better is that there are different types of radio you can listen to: Total PC (for all those old PC games), Classic Console (nostalgia from the NES, Super NES, Genesis, TurboGrafx-16 systems), and Modern Console (anything from the 16 bit era of consoles).
- MMORadio - MMORadio was created for those fans of MMO games. Now you can listen to the epic music of MMOs at any time your little heart desires
- RPG Classics - This is music from RPG days of yore. Defeat big bosses at work while listening to this.
- Shadowhaxor.Net - This station will serve up just about any type of music from any game out there. If you want randomness, this shall give it to you.
