Austin, Texas: Where Hilarity Insues

by Amber on March 20th, 2007

Oh, I love those people from Texas. They are funny and filled with not much common sense. Now, I’m not bashing on Texans in the least. Both my brothers were born in Texas and I live there for 9 years, which is a goodly portion of my life. It’s stories like this from KVUE news in Austin, however, that make me laugh and laugh at our brothers and sisters to the south.

Now, as many of you know, I love the Ultima series of games. Whether it be the individual desktop games or the grandly fantastic Ultima Online, I have played them all. Well, maybe not “all” but I have played a lot of them. The man behind the game, Richard Garriott, had an “incident”, shall we say. Apparently one of his properties in Austin, Texas was broken in to and burglarized. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Well, when Garriott found out about the burglary, he was hesitant about going to police about the burglary, but he found a clue. A big clue. Apparently the would be burglars left a digital camera with their very charming images on it. Some of these picture showed the very things that were stolen from Garriott’s property, which was about $5,000 worth of alcohol. If it were me, I’d kill some beeyotches. No one bettah mess with my booze.

This is what the great Garriott had to say about the entire thing:

We we’re joking to ourselves about tomorrow morning, when they wake up with a hangover, they’re going to wonder where that camera is,” he said. “This is one of those Darwin-style kind of awards, where people leave the self-incriminating evidence behind at the scene.

So, tell me… have you seen these kids? If you have, you may just receive a $1,000 reward. Good for you.
